Job Overview:
A leading academic medical center in New York City is seeking a skilled Clinical Data Coordinator – Inpatient Coding to support inpatient coding and data quality initiatives. This position focuses on accurate DRG assignment, complex case coding, and ensuring documentation integrity while serving as a resource for coder education and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform and oversee inpatient coding reviews with an emphasis on complex case mix and DRG validation
Collaborate with Health Information Management (HIM) teams to ensure coding accuracy and data quality
Educate coders on documentation standards and coding updates
Identify trends and support performance improvement initiatives
Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, payer regulations, and organizational standards

Required Qualifications:

3 years of inpatient coding experience, with 2 years focused on complex case mix
CCS certification (AHIMA)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Strong interpersonal and coder education skills

Preferred Qualifications:

5 years of HIM or medical records experience in an academic medical center
Previous experience as a DRG Coordinator
Experience using 3M software
RHIA or RHIT certification
