Description

Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Ultrasound Sonographer to join our team in San Francisco, CA. This role involves performing high-quality diagnostic sonograms to assist in the evaluation of anatomy and pathology for patient diagnosis and treatment. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, adaptability, and a commitment to patient-centered care. This position requires flexibility to work variable shifts, including 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations at multiple UCSF Medical Center locations.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform diagnostic sonograms in various specialties, including OB/GYN, abdominal, thyroid, transplant kidney/liver, pancreas, and sterile procedures.
Obtain and document patient clinical history before imaging procedures.
Prepare patients, imaging rooms, and ultrasound equipment before and after procedures.
Ensure image quality and recognize sub-optimal techniques, making necessary adjustments for accurate diagnostic results.
Assist with patient transfers and transports, ensuring safety and comfort.
Maintain ARDMS certification and adhere to the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) standards.
Work collaboratively with physicians and healthcare teams to provide accurate, timely diagnostic imaging.

Requirements:

Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited ultrasound training program (CAHEEP accredited preferred).
Active ARDMS certification in Abdominal and OB/GYN sonography required.
Minimum of 2-5 years of ultrasound experience in a hospital setting (UCSF experience preferred).
BLS certification required.
Flexibility to work variable shifts (8, 10, or 12-hour shifts) and cover weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in pediatric ultrasound.
Prior experience with transplant imaging, sterile procedures, and ultrasound in thyroid, kidney, and liver scans.
Strong leadership, communication, and adaptability skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a high-performing imaging team.
